The education path “FUTURE” in the French school in Belgrade 2017/2018

Within the Law on School Education Reform, the education path ‘FUTURE’ is designed to enable each student from the 6th grade of lower secondary school to the final grade of the upper secondary school to develop their own individual education path in terms of informing, directing and revealing the world of employment in the economy and working in the profession.

The Head of Institution and the staff in charge of information and guidance in education (PRIO) encourage students and take care of the implementation of the education path “FUTURE” 2017-2018.

The education path is designed for students to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for planning future employment and for a reasonable and sound choice of the future profession.

Its goal is to encourage educational programs aimed at enriching and changing the notion of different occupations and other areas of business engagement. Based on existing school curricula, it enables the creation of an appropriate link between disciplinary training, acquired knowledge and skills.

 

General objectives:

 

▪ Familiarization and understanding of the world of economy and work in the profession, as well as the diversity of professions, occupations and training programs;
▪ Development of a personal sense of engagement and initiative;
▪ Designing a personal plan for school and / or vocational guidance.

 

Its purpose is to enable:

  • The students themselves to take part in the development of their personal plan of guidance in order to gain a better overview of procedures, possible directions of vocational training and choice of direction;
  •  To make students improve their knowledge about different professions;
  •  To promote dialogue within the education community and to set orientation as a joint activity in terms of designing the education path and developing inter-disciplinary projects;
  •  Better familiarization of the local economic environment through the development of partnership programs with the entire community in order for students to be better informed ;
  • Easier and more efficient exchange between schools and businesses through local level agreements, in order to provide students with the information which is most up-to-date and most adjusted to their needs.

Work goals:

 

Prepare students:

1) for individual design of a personal education path;
2) to truly become active participants in choosing their direction.

 

Participants

 

A student, the head teacher, parents, staff dealing with information and guidance in education (PRIO), a school board administrator, business entities / professional organizations, the pedagogical team (professors, a chief education counselor, a registrar).

 

Procedures

 

The work will be directed towards individual engagement in the process of orientation (knowledge and awareness of one’s own personality, the ability to determine their own place within the class, the perception of their own virtues and shortcomings, …), to get acquainted with different educational directions, to perceive the economic environment, different professions and interest.

6th grade of lower secondary school

 

 

 

 

The primary goal at this level is for students to adapt to the first level of secondary education

 

Continuation of the activities of the school/secondary school board with the period of observing and adapting fifth-grade students to the first level of secondary education, with special monitoring of the weaker students after the completion of the fifth grade of primary school.

– Application of the Folios software since November 2017 (teachers + staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO));

– At the time of class activities (HVC), monitoring student adapting to the first level of secondary school education in the 1st trimester: timetable, digital textbooks, e-mail, ‘Pronote’ software, organization of homework assignments, methods of work (class teachers);

– Getting acquainted with professions and occupations: presenting different professions and occupations in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters (external participants, parents);

– A review of the different directions in the French school to the end of schooling. In the 3rd quarter (application of Folios software from November 2017 (teachers + staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO)):

o Launching personalized educational success programs for students with the greatest difficulty in mastering the curriculum

o Monitoring of students and their adjustment to secondary education (report of class teachers)

o Permanent individual interviews at students’ request (with class teachers and / or with staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO))

 

5th grade of lower secondary school

 

– Application of the Folios software since November 2017 (teachers + staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO));

– At the time of class activities (HVC): work on personal knowledge based on the notes of “my virtues and shortcomings” and “how to help the classmate” (class teachers) – Individual interviews at the students’ request;

– Survey on the type of professions that students are interested in, the creation of a database of YouTube videos with the presentation of different professions, broadcasting of 2-3 videos per type of profession;

– Target activities: Visiting the Institute for the Development of Pesticides and Environmental Protection in Zemun, as a part of getting acquainted with various business activities and occupations.

4th grade of lower secondary school

– Individual interviews at the students’ request (with class teachers and / or with staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO))

– Target activities: “Within the subject of press and journalism“, in the 4th grade program, it is suggested to students the theoretical, as well as practical and effective access to the professions in the field of press; invite one journalist or expert from another related area to present their profession, challenges and opportunities that are opening up to them with the presence of the digital revolution and the penetration of the Internet. Visiting a printing press and a newspaper redaction.

Organizing the presentation of French press to the students of lower grades. Organizing the transition to other classes.
Final paper
Compilation of several articles, reports, statements, chronicles, surveys, interviews with French school, French presence in Serbia, historical-political relations of the two countries, representation of Serbian culture in France, learning French language in Serbia, etc. We could ask some parents (entrepreneurs, bankers, diplomats, military personnel, professors, etc.) to conduct interviews and cooperate, as well as to organize a meeting with former students who are now employed in French companies (class teachers + staff in charge of informing and educational guidance (PRIO) + volunteers, registrars, other teachers).

3rd grade of lower secondary school September – December

Interpretation of the new medium-level education diploma (DNB) and interdisciplinary practical teaching (EPI) (class teachers)

Target activities

Interdisciplinary Practical Teaching (EPI): “The Great Challenges of Today’s Urbanism”

Professions in the field of urban development (urban planners, landscaping, construction architect, landscape architect), detailed overview and description during a class dedicated to this.

– Conducting a survey among the students of the 1st / final class of the upper secondary school in relation to the professions they want to do

– Conducting a survey among professors (Have they always wanted to do this profession? What other profession could they have had the opportunity to do?)

– Video materials on the topic “I record the profession I like the most” with the goal of opening opportunities to other professions or conducting conversations about students’ wishes

– Simulation of job interviews with the drawing up of a CV: what to say if you are in the role of a person looking for a job, what to look for if you are in the role of the owner of the company ….

– Doing research in pairs (two students for one profession) and cross-section of information

– In the section “Productive Premises in France”, state the innovative activities and interests of the future.
